Scotland’s Beezr & Sheffield's Spark North secure recommission for Tool Club

Category: News Release

Following a successful pilot, Channel 4 has commissioned a fifteen-part series of Tool Club from Scotland-based Beezr Studios and Sheffield-based Spark North, for Channel 4 daytime.

Kate Thomas, who commissioned the series for Channel 4 said “We are delighted to have worked with Beezr and Spark North to grow this brilliant show from a development to TX pilot and now a fully-fledged, and utterly brilliant series.”

Alasdair MacCuish, Beezr Studios Managing Director said, “The whole team at Beezr are thrilled to see Tool Club win a series order from Channel 4. It’s been a pleasure developing the format with our colleagues at Spark North and our crack team of DIY experts are ready to roll up their sleeves and empower the nation to take on DIY with confidence.”

Joff Powell, Spark Media’s Creative Director said “We’re delighted to have secured Spark North’s first series commission working alongside BEEZR and can't wait to build on what our Tool Club achieved in the pilot to help a nation in need of some serious DIY training.”

We might all have attempted to spruce up our surroundings recently, but with millions of pounds spent each year rectifying the DIY jobs Brits have botched at home, this series will offer useful tips and hacks to help us skill up and offer some practical inspiration to everyone bored of the same four walls.

In the pilot Tool Club host Michael Underwood led a team of creative DIY experts including Jessica Grizzle (all round DIY expert), Julia Miller-Osborn (expert carpenter) and Mac McMurdo (Designer and Upcycler) as they tackled botched DIY projects. The team will return to take on everything from ambitious builds to small repairs, with each project giving viewers at home a handy guide of useful tips, hacks and practical inspiration.

Based out of the Tool Bus, which will serve as a mobile DIY roadshow, the team will help members of the local community as they drop in with their DIY disasters. The Tool Bus will be a base for the team to demonstrate and pass on some of their skills that will transform DIY failures, no matter how big or small, into projects to be proud of.

Tool Club was commissioned for Channel 4 by Kate Thomas, Commissioning Editor, Daytime and Features. Alasdair MacCuish is Executive Producer for BEEZR STUDIOS. Joff Powell is the Executive producer for Spark North.
