Sandi Toksvig to embark on more Extraordinary Escapes

The award-winning series, Extraordinary Escapes with Sandi Toksvig, is to return for a third series. In each episode broadcaster and national treasure, Sandi Toksvig, entertains a new holiday companion and makes them laugh like only a seasoned funny woman can. With a refreshingly female-skewed take on all things historical, Sandi is a fascinating tour guide whoencourages each guest to stop, ponder and enjoy the simple joys found in nature and the world around us. This season she’s joined by five queens of comedy, to gasp at the British Isles’ most breathe-taking landscapes, and kick back in fifteen of the most extraordinary escapes.    

Each of the properties, ranging from unique historical renovations, architecturally outstanding new-builds and super-eco hideaways, are built to take advantage of the stunning locations they occupy. From a super-contemporary boathouse hovering over the water’s edge in the Lake District, to an isolated Irish Cottage perched on a hillside in rural County Kerry – Sandi finds plenty time for candid‘off-duty’ chats and revealing conversation.    

Sandi will be joined by a new guest in each episode - all women she has been longing to spend quality time with.      

Eddie Izzard – Sandi and award-winning comedian, Hollywood actor and marathon running dynamo Eddie Izzard take a trip through the Republic of Ireland’s most picturesque counties from Clare, Kerry to Cork.     

Judi Love – Sandi takes the hilarious comedian and broadcaster Judi to Cumbria, staying in three spectacular architectural one-offs for a spot of walking in the hills and valleys and boating on some of the county’s famous lakes.    

Roisin Conaty – Comedy and acting star, Roisin Conaty joins Sandi for an escape in wild and windy Wales. The firm friends spend quality time together in an architectural masterpiece by the sea, an ingenious newbuild deep in the countryside and end up in a historic tower on the Welsh borders.   

Rosie Jones – Sandi takes comedian and writer Rosie on an adventure from seaside dunes to forest glade, spanning the Midlands North Sea coast in the East, to the Welsh Border in the West.    

Doon Mackichan - Sandi takes Emmy award-winning writer and performer Doon Mackichan to Ireland where they discover a beach-side architectural behemoth, music and laughter in a loch-side eco-resort, and a finally settle in a glamorously converted cottage that’s pitch perfect for the born performers.
