Posh Pawn

Category: News Release

Posh Pawn is the intriguing six-part documentary series airing on Channel 4 this spring that uncovers the hidden world of high-end pawnbroking, with exclusive access to the experts and extraordinary clients involved in this growing industry.

Following the success of the channel’s one-off documentary of the same title that aired in primetime last September, Posh Pawn focuses on Surrey-based Prestige Pawnbrokers and goes behind the scenes with its staff and clients to discover that when it comes to upmarket pawn, everyone has a story to tell.

From dealing with a flashy £145,000 red Ferrari, a stunning £250,000 diamond necklace or a unique £10,000 yellow submarine as collateral, Prestige Pawnbrokers pride themselves on loaning money against absolutely anything. And clients can come in all shapes and packages, including a relative of 69-year-old Sid, a notorious East End cat burglar during the 1980s; Hetty, the eccentric fourth wife of movie director Ken Russell and Cathy, an outgoing former catwalk model looking for a cash injection into her new business manufacturing pants which prevent ‘camel toe’.

For Prestige, the big question is always how valuable are the valuables? For some lucky clients it’s life-changing news as their precious items are valued at jaw-dropping sums. But big sums also mean big risks as clients sometimes struggle to pay back their loans, risking losing their beloved possessions.

Headed-up by slick former property developer, James Constantinou, with the aid of a quirky team of asset experts, Prestige is an empire on the move. James is dipping a toe in the water in the millionaires’ playground of Marbella. But will this prove to be a step too far?
