Why do you want to take part in The Hunt: Prey vs Predator?
The reason why I wanted to take part is this is going to be a real challenge for me. I've always stayed in my own box, and I've always had a lot of support around us. Being autistic, it's going to be really difficult, and I need to push myself. I've got a son that's autistic as well, and when I was growing up, I didn't have anybody that I could look up to that was autistic too. I didn't really understand what it meant, and I don't want my son to grow up thinking that he can't do anything because he's autistic. So, by me doing this, I'm hoping to prove to him that he can do what he wants as well. He just sees the world a little bit differently. But it doesn't mean to say that he can't do things like this, which is what I thought for a long time.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you’ll bring to this game.
I'm 34, I'm a prison officer, I have four children and a stepdaughter, and I'm married. Being a prison officer, I've got to be honest, I’m the good guy, I've got to be straight down the line. I'm hoping coming into the game I can play a different side, be a bit devious. That's what I'm looking forward to, not having to be the good guy all the time. I really want to play the game and I want to play the game at its absolute maximum. I want to get everything out of it that I can.
What are you like when playing games with friends and family? Would you say you’re competitive?
Yeah, I am absolutely competitive. Me and my daughter, she's four, we play Pairs [the card game], and she's quite good at it. My wife has caught me cheating before, so she doesn't win - I'm really competitive.
How do you think you’ll fare better, as predator or prey?
I think I'll fare better as prey. I think I'm quite fast. I’m good at playing hide and seek because I've got a lot of children and we play that all the time. And, I think I'll have the drive not to get caught.
Are you a team player? Do you think you’ll be good at building alliances and coming up with strategies?
So I am a team player, but if I'm on the losing team and I've got to go my own way to win, then I'll move away from the team because I do not want to lose. I think I'll be really good at building alliances. Being a prison officer, you have to try and understand what people are thinking, and what their next move is before they make it, so I’m really good at reading people.
If you were the ultimate winner, what would you spend your winnings on?
I'd like to put some money away for my children for when they get older. Having four of my own, I'm never going to be able to save up a nice house deposit for each child, because I've got so many to save for! So, if I ever won a large amount of money, I'll be putting it away for their future. And I would take them on an amazing holiday.
