Jamie Does...

After driving across the USA for Jamie's American Road Trip, Jamie Oliver is hitting the road again for a culinary expedition to six great food destinations a little closer to home.

Travelling across Europe and to North Africa, Jamie wants to experience local cultures through their food.

He heads off the tourist track to search out fantastic ingredients and meet extraordinary people, picking up delicious recipes and preparing his own versions of dishes en route.

From truffle hunting with a pig in the French Pyrenees to spear fishing off an idyllic island near Athens, Jamie sets out to uncover the freshest and most authentic recipes, including exotic street food in Marrakesh, fermented herring in Sweden, the perfect risotto in Venice and a paella for a whole village in Andalucia.

Jamie celebrates the distinctive cultures he meets, learning traditional cooking practices from local people and immersing himself in their customs.  The result is a richly diverse collection of destinations and mouth-watering flavours.

"I wanted to see some of the places I'd been hearing about for years, as well as places I'd visited and loved but never had the chance to fully explore," says Jamie.  "Marrakesh, Athens and the Greek islands, Venice, the Midi-Pyrenees in France, sunny Andalucia and Stockholm were top of my list for short but sweet trips.

"I wanted to pick a destination, go there, be open-minded and talk to the locals, eat the things they ate and go where they went.  At the end of the day the best way to a country and its culture is through its food."
