Introduction from Richard Mears - Executive Producer
Category: Press Pack ArticleFirst Dates' 10th anniversary felt very special to us, so we really wanted to pull out all the stops to make this a great series for daters and viewers alike. We wanted to keep all the First Dates' warmth and heart that we all know and love, but it was also a great time to refresh things. We have a beautiful new restaurant in Bath - one of the most romantic cities in the UK - and that really made an impact on the series. Not only does everything have a brand-new look, but the gorgeous surroundings are the perfect place for love to blossom.
Fred adores his new restaurant, and him and his A-team of cupids have really worked their magic as we have had more successful dates than ever before.
In the now crowded landscape of dating shows, First Dates is unique. It's authentic and heartwarming and genuinely cares for all the daters who are brave enough to take that bold step into the unknown. This is the key to its ongoing success and longevity.
Viewers can look forward to an enthralling new batch of blind dates - with all the fun, flirting and fireworks you’d expect. There are some jaw-dropping moments but also some moving stories that will bring a tear to your eye. We’ve had plenty of kisses (and a few car crashes too!). There have been a few surprises including some spontaneous performances and, to add a bit of stardust, we’ve also invited some familiar faces - including a reality TV show winner, a newsreader and a glamorous Cheshire Housewife who falls head-over-heels …just not with her date!
For 10 years this magical restaurant has been turning hopeless singletons into happy-ever-afters. There have been numerous wedding bells and this year we welcomed another First Dates baby. Hopefully it's as joyful to watch as it was to make!
