Interview with Arnas Fedarvičius (Marijonas)
Category: Press Pack ArticleWho is Marijonas and what journey does he go on across the series?
Marijonas is an ambitious young man and comes to Scotland with hopes and dreams of being a personal trainer. However, things happen along the way...love and certain life-changing moments, and from there he moves on to working for the hotel. There's a bit of heartbreak and there's a lot of love. He's generally a very happy person that is willing to help, a loving man, and a very active one. Marijonas and I both come from Lithuania.
What kind of baggage does he bring with him to Summerwater?
He had a lot of hopes and dreams before coming to the Summerwater hotel; he brings a sense of having a break, a pause in his life from achieving his dreams. There's a feeling of expectation that perhaps this is just a phase in life that will pass and change. Perhaps he could carry on achieving what he wants to.
Does Marijonas have a difficult experience being an Eastern European in Scotland and did you share any similarities with him?
I didn't move personally to Scotland; I moved to London years ago and I didn't have to work in construction like Marijonas did, but I've shared the experience of having to do something on the way to wanting to do what I do.
What can audiences expect from Summerwater?
Suspense, heartbreak and betrayal. It's a real thrill! I see it as a thriller on many levels with many shocking twists and turns.
How would you describe the series in 3 words?
If I had to describe the series in three words, I would say love, hope and suspense.
How is Summerwater similar or different to The White Lotus?
The weather is not as pleasant compared to Thailand – it was a little bit colder in Scotland! Theres also perhaps a little less bloodshed. They also both take place in a hotel, which is a fascinating coincidence and now I feel like a professional hotel worker!
