The Inheritance: Catherine is the fourth player to be axed from The Deceased's will

Category: News Release

Former police sergeant Catherine, from Wales, was the fourth player to be cut from The Deceased’s will and eliminated from The Inheritance.

The ruthless axing was made by the players who were asked to vote face to face for who they would cut from the will. On her elimination Catherine said: “You devious bunch of backstabbing snakes voted me because I was a strong player. I am absolutely fuming. You’re all s****!”

Interview with Catherine:

What were your first impressions of the house, The Executor, and most importantly your fellow players?
My first impression of the house was just how beautiful it is. You’re driving into this estate which is enormous with wonderful trees and wildlife. At the end of the drive you're presented with the house in all its glory, with the flag flying on the top. It was outstandingly beautiful and surreal. Rob Rinder was so good, he kept in character the whole time but he’s quite naughty because he does give a little knowing glance. He'd also do little looks down his nose at you, we were biting our tongues because it was so funny.

What did you make of your fellow players?
When I first arrived, I thought Ferg was the actual homeowner because he was dressed like a member of the gentry! When we all got together, we were all so different; some that I would never gravitate towards in the real world and some that I would. I think they became obvious during my time here. I really gravitated towards Matt. We’re a similar age and have a similar outlook on things; same kind of desire to be physical, work hard and get stuck in. I’m not really a girly girl and I tend to be drawn to people on the same level of maturity really.

It’s more of a test to see how you can adapt, and how you can integrate yourself into that dynamic and have others feel you’re relatable. They were all lovely, until they voted me out!

Did you have a strategy, and did you stick to it?
I didn’t really have a strategy. My strategy was to take each day as it came, to be the best version of myself, to get stuck in with each request. I wanted to demonstrate that I'm a valuable player, not always with one individual or one group, but to work my way around everybodyHowever, I don't think that worked so well! I always looked to Matt, because he was a bit of a sounding board for me, I could trust him. I wish I could have removed that really and maybe just played with the others a little bit more.

Tell us about the requests. How were they and did you have a favourite?
The one that stands out for me is climbing the tree. The task where we had to retrieve honey. We thought we would be going to a beehive and extracting the honey with the white beekeeping suits. It was not like that at all. These honey hives were bolted to a tree, up to about 40 meters high. I volunteered to go up the tree and I was so excited. Honestly, I was clinging onto that tree like a koala. Jesse had my life in his hands and he's getting splattered in honey. I'm looking down at him because you had to release the bottom of the hives and honey was just pouring out that he had to try and catch. It was so funny!

Are you good with heights?
I'm not used to dealing with heights, but I just didn't think about it. I just got on with it. The lake was the same; nobody really wanted to get in wetsuits and get in the freezing cold lake. I just thought, I can swim so I'll give that a go. They were probably the two standout requests for me. How they think of them I have no idea. They were so good, honestly!

How does it feel to be leaving at this point?
I’m fuming. I went into yesterday being a strong player, financially strong. When we heard the request, we had a feeling that somebody would be leaving. We were sat there answering those questions - the player that’s the most trustworthy, the hardest worker, etc - and at the biggest game player, my name started coming into the mix. I was thinking, this isn't good. To the question of who you think should be cut from the will, I had three votes and Mart had four votes. I couldn’t believe it. They were turning on me and voting tactically. Then there had to be a re-vote because there wasn’t a majority and The Executor said, you must reach a unanimous decision. I just knew at that point that my name would be there. I was so pissed off it was unbelievable. It is a compliment though. They saw me as a threat and voted me out to make their lives easier.

Who do you think will go all the way and who would you like to see go all the way?
I've got two different answers for that; I think Cam will go all the way, but I would want it to be Matt because I think Matt has been more of an all-rounder. He's had a maturity about him; he's been giving advice, and he’s been a more rounded player than Cam. Cam has put in loads of effort, and he does deserve to win. For me, it should be Matt.

Do you have a personal standout highlight moment um from the whole experience?
The teddy bears’ picnic. That is my standout moment. That is at the forefront of my mind. That, and being up the tree!
