The Great British Bake Off: The Third Baker Leaves The Tent

Category: News Release

The nation’s most famous tent was pitched in the grounds of Welford Park once again. Presenters Noel Fielding and Alison Hammond came to lead the latest batch of 12 bakers through thirty brand new challenges set by Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, in ten episodes.

In Tuesday’s night’s episode of The Great British Bake Off on Channel 4, Jasmine was named Star Baker and sadly Pui Man was the third baker to leave the 16th series.

In Week 3 it was Bread week and the 10 remaining bakers had to impress the judges Paul and Prue to battle it out for Star Baker.

Loaves at the ready, it was the week all the bakers dread… Bread Week! No dough was safe, as Master of bread Paul Hollywood prodded and poked his way through the baker’s offerings.

First up for the signature was a pull apart monkey bread. The bakers got in a sticky mess with a fast food technical of glazed ring doughnuts, and then were tasked with baking an impressive tiered sweet bread showstopper.

At the end of the third episode Noel announced that Jasmine was Star Baker and Alison had the difficult job of telling Pui Man that she would be leaving the tent.

Pui Man said ‘I am a little bit disappointed but I was doing well most of the time, but I am part of the Bake Off family now so it’s not a bad thing.’

Here Pui Man talks about her time in the tent ….

*Overall what was your best and worst moment in the Tent?

Best moment - Prue said my Swiss Roll was delicious - twice.

Worst moment - Paul said my showstopper cake was cartoon.

*What’s next for you in the baking world?

I am planning to do my next door neighbour’s 100th birthday cake in September. It will be a big cake.

*Favourite challenge overall and why.

Swiss roll, I love the look and taste.

*Worst challenge and why?

Slice and Bake, I gave myself too much to do within two hours. I should have eliminated lots of details.

*Can you describe how you felt when the presenter announced that you would be leaving how did your fellow Bakers cheer you up.

I was disappointed and everyone was shocked.

*Did you have a costume disaster any week in the tent, and did you have a lucky T shirt/Top you wore?

I chose red and thought it’s my lucky colour, however I forgot to bring my red lipstick to match with my dress.

*Would you wear any of Noel’s jumpers or shirts?

Yes definitely. I love them all.

*What do you love most about all your fellow bakers

I felt like that they are my long lost friends and we finally found each other.

*What will you take away from your experience on Bake Off and do you feel that you have learned new skills?

I learned so much from the other bakers and I also realised that they love my opinions and wanted to learn from me as well.
