E4 reveals new Embarrassing Bodies Doctor line-up

Category: News Release

Earlier this year, E4 announced that it would be rebooting the hit Channel 4 medical series Embarrassing Bodies with a brand-new line up of medical professionals.

E4 can now reveal the brand-new line of Doctors for the series will be, Dr Jane Leonard, Dr Anand Patel and Dr Tosin Ajayi -Sotubo, who will be on hand to help examine, explain, and hopefully provide treatment solutions for the patients’ ‘medical mysteries’, all whilst helping to destigmatise many common conditions that often go ignored or untreated.

In a new addition to the format, our Embarrassing Bodies doctors will also focus on major health and sexual health issues, with the help of some well-known celebrity voices. These famous faces will get involved through a series of stunts, with the aim of getting  the people of Britain talking about these important topics.

Away from the consultation room, there will be pop-up ‘confessional clinics’ in cities around the UK, providing patients with a safe space to ask our doctors the questions they’ve been too afraid to ask, or seek advice on the embarrassing conditions they may have hidden away.

MEET THE DOCTORS

Dr Jane Leonard

Dr Jane is a fully qualified NHS GP and cosmetic doctor where she splits her time between both. Having also gained a first-class honours degree in anatomical sciences, she focused her studies on the anatomy of the face, head and neck. Jane splits her time between clinics in London, Liverpool, and Cheshire. Clients range from footballers wives, to TV stars with patients suffering from a range of conditions from body dysmorphia through to Hirsutism (excess hair growth.)

Jane took part in dermatology research when working in Melbourne for two years after her junior doctor training and her works in Dermatology research have been published in the prestigious Australasian Journal of Dermatology along with other publications including Grazia, Vogue, InStyle, The Telegraph, Women’s Health, Cosmopolitan and the Daily Mail.

During the pandemic, Dr Jane joined the Covid 19 escalation centre in Soho. She was one of the original frontline doctors that set up this unique service where other medical services would refer patients with Covid symptoms for the team to assess how best to manage them. Dr Jane has regularly spoken on radio and online about her professional and personal experiences of working as a frontline doctor.

DR ANAND PATEL

Dr Anand qualified in Medicine in 2000 from Kings College, London. He left medicine in 2004 to become a biology teacher and head of Sex Ed, before going back to medicine and qualifying as a GP in 2008. He now works as a GP in South London three days a week, where he treats everybody and every condition. The remainder of his time is spent at the Centre for Men’s Health at Harley Street where he specialises in health, sexual function, and testosterone issues affecting men. He often sees patients with concerns such as erectile dysfunction, painful sex, or orgasm problems, and brings his specialist knowledge back into his day job as a GP.

Dr Anand was one of the first doctors in the UK to gain the Fellowship of the European Committee of Sexual Medicine in 2012, the only accreditation in the field recognised in Europe. He is on the board of the British Society of Sexual Medicine, and the Primary Care Testosterone Advisory Group. He also trains doctors to become GPs and shows them how they can talk to patients about the topic of sex and relationships, what conditions can arise, and how to make people feel comfortable about talking about it.

He co-hosts “The Pleasure Podcast”, which covers physical and emotional relationships in all forms including Queer and Feminist sex, sex when you have a bigger body, as well as sexuality in the South Asian community where the subject is still considered taboo.

DR TOSIN AJAYI-SOTUBO

Through personal experiences and years of working as a medical doctor, Tosin started to slowly realise the importance of disease prevention and a gap in our understanding of ‘health’.
