Channel 4 is delighted and honoured to reveal that the channel’s identity trail featuring The Simpsons is to appear in a forthcoming episode of the show that will TX in the US this weekend on Sunday 26th January. The ident will be part of a Super Bowl-themed couch gag.

Commissioned by 4Creative and produced by The Simpsons animators Gracie Films in 2006, the 30-second ident features Homer’s repeated attempts to retrieve a 6-pack of beer that has become entangled in electricity power lines. With Homer receiving electric shocks with each attempt, a night view from above then reveals the Channel 4 logo in Springfield’s flickering neighbourhood street lighting.

2014 also marks the 25th anniversary since the first episode of this iconic series was ever aired in 1989.

The Simpsons airs on Channel 4 each weeknight at 6pm.

Talking of the Super Bowl, Channel 4’s The Super Bowl: American Football Live will be on Sunday 2nd February.
