AGE: 60
OCCUPATION: Dental Business Consultant
LIVES IN: Cheshire
Chris lives in Cheshire with his partner and their dogs. He describes himself as a natural born survivor, as when times are hard he comes back every time. He describes himself as a ‘road warrior’ and spends up to four days a week away from home, work is a huge part of his life.
Chris wanted to take part in the show because he has a huge bucket list and he wants to do things while he can. He doesn’t have any survival knowledge but is physically very fit and has trekked to Everest Base Camp, c;limbed Kilimanjaro and run 18 marathons.
Chris would say that he gets things done, and that will be useful on the Island, ‘10% of people in the world make things happen, 20% of people in the world have things happen to them, and 70% didn’t know anything was happening. I’m one of the 10%’.
Q: What did you learn taking part in the series?
A: That at 60 I'm in great shape physically and mentally and can do a lot of things and that people have very different standards of performance and behaviour.
Q: What is the key thing you will take away from your time on the island?
A: Our time on The Island made me realise that we have far more than we need in the developed world - and that we can afford to give more. I hope I never have to starve again but equally that I will always remember what that feels like and how it changes your perspective and priorities.
