Channel 4 commissions Guy’s Garage from North One TV

Category: News Release

Guy’s Garage (4x60min )  will see him embark on his next adventure where he will be taking part in an idiosyncratic racing tour of Europe. His intention is to take some of our continental neighbours' most iconic cars and turn them into unlikely racing machines - and from Citroen 2CV endurance events to Volvo rallying, Trabant road races to Piaggio Ape rallycross, Guy is aiming to beat them all at their own games.

In his garage near Grimsby, aided and abetted by his old mate and fellow mechanic, Cammy (or Cameron Whitworth III, to give him his full title), Guy is going to create four very different Frankenstein racers. Then, having learned to drive them very, very fast, he's going to pop them on his trailer and head off across the Channel for the grand finale of every show, where Guy will be aiming to beat the Germans at ihrem eigenen Spiel, show the Italians come farlo, make the Swedes ät damm and teach the French how to sucer des oeufs.

Guy Martin says; "Working in the garage with a mate, doing a bit of learning, then racing the stuff we build, PROPER! THAT’S right up my street - can't wait to get to started. We're gonna need a lot of tea for the job...”

Jonah Weston, Commissioning Editor, Science and Adventure adds;  “Racing and engineering are what Guy lives for.  So I can’t wait to see what crazy machines he comes up with as he sets out to beat his foreign petrolhead friends in their own backyards. “

Ewan Keil, Executive Producer, North One continues "It's what Guy does - building machines in his garage, then racing them. We'll just be poking a camera round the garage door, watching a man blissfully buried in engine parts.’
