Their relationship’s over. The tenancy isn’t. Break Clause follows the story of Ben and Lil as they navigate their first real heartbreak whilst stuck in the same flat.

LONG SERIES SYNOPSIS

Break Clause follows the story of Ben and Lil as they navigate their first real heartbreak whilst stuck in the same flat. After four years at Leeds Uni, Lil gets a job in London and persuades Ben to move down with her. Riddled with insecurity and doubts about the move, Ben makes a drunken mistake on their last night and sleeps with someone else. Ben fails to confess this to Lil until their first night in London, by which point they’re already locked into a rental contract. With no other options, they’re forced to live out their six-month break clause under the same roof.

EPISODE ONE (AUGUST)

Ben and Lil are moving to London! They couldn’t be more excited. But after a wild final night in Leeds, Ben’s shocking confession on moving day traps them, literally and metaphorically, in their new flat. It’s gonna be a long six months…

EPISODE TWO (SEPTEMBER)

Two weeks after the bombshell, things with Ben and Lil are frosty. Lil starts a new job and brings her first post-breakup date back to the flat, just as Ben accidentally joins a medical trial and attempts to tutor a teenager with a burning fever. 

EPISODE THREE (OCTOBER)

It’s Kira and Jordan’s baby christening in Leeds, and Ben and Lil’s first time seeing friends since the break up. While Ben tries to prove he’s a good person, Lil hunts down the girl he cheated on her with. It doesn’t go exactly to plan.

EPISODE FOUR (NOVEMBER)

It’s Thanksgiving, and newly ‘just friends’ Ben and Lil host a very adult dinner party. Sure, the invitees look like a group who met on jury duty, and sure, Ben found their turkey in a bin, but can either of them resist the pull of old feelings? 

EPISODE FIVE (JANUARY)

Things between Ben and Lil are great. Unable to keep their hands off each other, they bunk off work to enjoy a day out in London, but when Ben finds out some unpalatable truths about Lil’s timeline of moving to London, things turn nasty…

EPISODE SIX (FEBRUARY)

It’s the weekend before Ben and Lil sign their break clause and leave the flat for good. Lil’s off to Berlin and Ben’s staying on Frances’ sofa. But when Lil’s parents let her down, it’s Ben who steps up, making Lil question everything. Can they work things out before it’s too late?
