Channel 4 today announced it has released an All 4 preview app on Android to its Core4 viewer panel to trial ahead of a wider release on the Play Store before the end of the year.
All 4 – the new home for all of Channel 4’s digital services – launched on PC and iOS at the end of March this year. As part of the phased roll-out plan, Channel 4 is now inviting its registered viewers on the Core4 panel to preview the new Android app before a public release. The preview release will be first to receive new features, culminating with the roll-out of the Watch Live feature in the coming months.
Channel 4 has developed the app in partnership with Novoda, an international development house specialising in mobile software craftsmanship.
Keith Underwood, Director of Strategy & Technology, said: “Since launch in March, All 4 has performed extremely well. As we prepare to roll-out on Android, we wanted to invite our community of registered users to get involved in shaping the application. This reflects a broader strategy of developing a strong and engaging two-way relationship with our registered users across the many facets of our business.”
Richard Davidson-Houston, Head of All 4 & Digital Content added: “Our All 4 journey continues with the complete overhaul of the Android app. We are bursting with creative ideas for content and product experiences that will delight our All 4 viewers – and, of course, involving them in the process is vitally important.”
Channel 4 and Novoda will continue to keep the Android preview community engaged after this initial release for further exciting product developments.
