Zuma resists ANC resignation calls

International Editor

In South Africa, President Jacob Zuma is clinging to power tonight, moving the country further into a political crisis. After a 13-hour marathon meeting yesterday, the highest committee of the President’s party, the ANC, decided to call on their candidate to resign, but so far he has resisted.

The ANC’s secretary-general today said that the President had requested to remain in office for a further three-six months, but this was rejected by party leaders.
