England fans in hospital after Sao Paulo attack – reports

Ten England supporters are in hospital after an explosive was thrown in the centre of Sao Paulo, ahead of tonight’s World Cup clash between England and Uruguay, according to reports.

Sao Paulo authorities have confirmed that 10 English supporters are being treated in hospital after they were attacked by locals, according to the Goal website.

A Brazilian gang threw an explosive towards fans in the city’s centre, gathered in anticipation of tonight’s Group D England-Uruguay game, reports say.

Brazilian police have arrested 14 people in connection with the incident, the website continued.

Local reports suggest the hooligans caused damage to shops and a bus as they fled police.
