What will UK-US ‘special relationship’ look like under Trump?

The first time Donald Trump became president, Theresa May was the first foreign leader to visit. Her trip, seven days after his inauguration, was memorable for the awkward images of him holding her hand as they walked through the White House.

It’s a different story this time round. The new president’s close confidant Elon Musk is no fan of Sir Keir Starmer, and if Mr Trump does impose tariffs on the UK, it would deal a major blow to the so-called “special relationship”.
