The inauguration of the 46th US President marks the end of America’s four-year experiment with carnage and chaos – with a new Commander in chief being sworn in today. It comes in the midst of a pandemic, with crowds even smaller than they were four years ago, and with the nation’s capitol a fortress like never before. Trump may leave in disgrace, following his second impeachment for inciting an insurrection – but his followers still number in the millions – will they accept their new leader or wait for what Mr Trump does next?
