What is the future for social care funding under the Conservatives?

The Conservative manifesto’s planned reforms for social care funding would see thousands more having to contribute to the cost of their care – but they will not have to pay during their lifetime.

Theresa May said it was the first time a government had produced a proper long-term plan for the sustainability of social care in England.

But critics have warned that it left the elderly facing an uncertain future with no control over their care costs.
