Week ahead of local elections, anger and apathy over Brexit dominates conversation

North of England Correspondent

It’s a week to go until voting in local elections.  While local politicians would have you believe it’s all about bins and pot-holes, it seems something else is dominating the conversation for candidates on the doorstep:  Brexit has led to a mixture of anger and apathy, with some saying they’ll never vote again.

In Skircoat near Halifax, the Lib Dems only got four-and-half-per-cent of the vote last time around – so it looks like it’ll be a two-horse race again between Labour and the Conservatives.
