Series 1, Episode 14: Johnny Marr

When I present Channel 4 News, in-depth analysis and great journalism come together to explain the events of the day. But this new podcast wants to help you go much deeper and discuss answers, not just problems.

Each week, I’ll speak to one guest, at length, who will hopefully have some answers – without having to rely on a 30 second sound bite.

Our guest this week is musician and former The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr.

He talks to me from London’s ICA on the release of his new album Call the Comets. A political musician from his early days of gigging at Glastonbury, he now talks of disagreeing with Smiths frontman Morrissey over his far-right leanings, how the terrorist attack in Manchester jolted his creativity and why he thinks politicians are more desperate for fame than anyone else.
