There’s a warning today that there could be shortages of isotopes used in hospitals if there are border delays in the event of a no-deal departure from the EU.

Used for diagnosing and treating tumours and cancers, the radioactive elements are all imported from Europe.

But today the body representing producers and transporters told Channel 4 News they are deeply concerned about the possibility of delays at the ports because the isotopes degrade rapidly.
