Violence surges over Bank Holiday weekend

One bank holiday weekend and two young people stabbed to death – one in Luton, the other in Liverpool. One teenager was fatally shot in South London and five people have been left with gunshot wounds in separate attacks – one in Manchester, the other in Harrow in North London.

These latest deaths in the spate of street violence over the last few months has prompted London Mayor Sadiq Khan to accuse the government of failing in its “basic duty to keep people safe”.
