Venezuela detains two Americans it accuses of involvement in coup attempt

Venezuela’s president claims to have foiled an old fashioned coup attempt, brandishing a pair of US passports.

Nicolas Maduro said a group of mercenaries, including two Americans, had been arrested in a raid on a beach off Macuto just north of the capital Caracas on Venezuela’s Caribbean coast.

President Trump has denied any US involvement in the incident.
