US midterms: Has Trump fever finally broken?

The midterm elections are one way that America takes its temperature and perhaps the biggest news of the night is that Trump fever seems to have broken.

The ex-President was not on the ballot but he was strong enough to force dozens of Republican candidates into a Faustian Pact: ‘say the 2020 election was stolen from me and I will endorse you’.

It mostly didn’t work. The Democrats are set to lose their House majority but at a time of crippling inflation and rising crime they did better than expected and at this moment control of both houses still hangs in the balance.
