US imposes raft of stringent sanctions on Iran

The US has applied a raft of stringent sanctions on Iran and has threatened even more, making good on threats by President Trump. The sanctions are far-reaching, but eight countries have been granted temporary waivers to buy Iranian oil, including China and India. Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani condemned the move, calling the sanctions “economic warfare”.
