US Government shutdown looms as Congress race to find a deal

Officials are getting ready for the US Government to grind to a halt at midnight tonight.

Inside Capitol Hill, politicians are trying to find a way to keep federal funding going into next year – although Donald Trump has already said it’s President Biden’s problem to solve.

And attempts to find a compromise are, so far, not going well, with Republicans descending into infighting and Democrats refusing to back a plan they say would simply mean tax cuts for the very rich.
