US authorities begin to remove monuments amid Black Lives Matter protests

It is not just in the UK that debate is raging about statues and monuments.

In the United States there have long been demands by anti-racist groups for the removal of monuments which they say glorify Confederate leaders and gloss over the brutality of the slave trade.

Amidst the recent Black Lives Matters protests, authorities there have finally begun removing some of them, and there are lessons to be learnt in the UK.
