University finance review announced by May

Theresa May has announced a sweeping review of higher education in England, admitting the system of university tuition is amongst the most expensive in the world.

The Prime Minister said the review would look at the whole system of student funding, but she also made clear that she did not favour scrapping tuition fees in favour of taxpayer-funded degrees. Labour has said it would abolish fees and reintroduce maintenance grants.
