UN Security Council agrees Gaza resolution that does not call for ceasefire

For the first time since Hamas’s attack in October – the UN Security Council has agreed a resolution on the Gaza war – calling for the delivery of humanitarian aid to be urgently speeded up – and for the immediate release of all hostages.

But it stopped short of demanding an immediate ceasefire, which the UN chief Antonio Guterres said was the only way to relieve the “ongoing nightmare” of the people of Gaza.
