UN dismisses Syrian reassurances over Eastern Ghouta bombardment

Syria claims it’s taking every measure to protect civilians in the besieged enclave of eastern Ghouta, claims which the UN human rights chief today dismissed as “frankly ridiculous”. Hundreds of people have died in the opposition-held suburb over the last few weeks. This report contains distressing images that were filmed for Channel 4 News in one of the few hospitals left in Eastern Ghouta, which local journalists say was targeted three times this afternoon.
