UK government faces increased pressure over one per cent pay rise offer to NHS staff

The Government is coming under increasing pressure over NHS pay as more unions joined the calls for staff to be offered a bigger increase.

NHS Providers, which represents NHS trusts in England, said the one per cent rise was a disappointment but ministers insist their recommendation is all the public finances can afford.

Nurses say that being offered the equivalent of £3.50 a week is a “disgrace”.
