UK employment drops by largest amount in a decade

The pandemic is continuing to wreak severe damage on the economy – as new figures show there are almost three quarters of a million fewer employees on company pay rolls than since lockdown began.

And economists are warning of a “looming cliff edge” – once furlough schemes come to an end.
