UK economic growth slows in May

The pub industry reckons England fans will buy another seven million pints of beer this Sunday, providing a much needed boost to an industry that’s had a dreadful 15 months.  It’s a boost the whole economy could do with, today we learnt output grew by just 0.8 per cent in May, despite the return to indoor dining half way through the month.  That’s weaker than many economists had expected and weaker than the month before.  So why the loss of momentum?
