Turkey begins military campaign against Kurdish fighters in Syria

Turkey has launched a series of airstrikes and artillery fire against Kurdish fighters in northeastern Syria – as President Erdogan declared his mission was to eradicate ‘the threat of terror’. Witnesses reported panic in the streets, claiming civilian areas were being targeted. In the last hour – President Trump declared the US did ‘not endorse’ Turkey’s assault – calling it a ‘bad idea’.
