Trump trails Biden in election polls – as he announces plans to tackle gun violence

In America, the latest polls show Donald Trump trailing his democratic rival Joe Biden by seven points.

With unemployment rising and criticism of the way the president has handled the coronavirus crisis, he is fighting an uphill battle for re-election in November.

Falling back on his “law and order” campaign he has announced that he will send 200 federal officers to Chicago to tackle gun violence in the city.
