Top civil servant advised Greensill while still working in Whitehall

A senior civil servant advised the scandal-hit finance firm Greensill Capital while he was still working in Whitehall, it’s emerged today.

Bill Crothers took the role roughly three months before he left his job as the government’s chief financial officer.

Yesterday Boris Johnson ordered a review into how Greensill was able to secure government contracts after former PM David Cameron lobbied ministers on the company’s behalf.
