Thousands protest over ‘slavery laws’ in Hungary

Chief Correspondent

In Hungary’s capital, thousands of people have been protesting against so-called “slavery laws” introduced last week by Prime Minister Viktor Orban.

The labour reforms give employers the right to demand up to 400 hours of overtime from workers each year. The right-wing government says the laws are needed to relieve a shortage of workers.
