Theresa May turns on her own Brexit deal

MPs spent an hour and a half voting on a series of amendments to Theresa May’s Brexit deal. The options ranged from keeping Britain in the customs union, to delaying Brexit if no deal is agreed, or going back to the European Union to demand legal changes to the Northern Ireland backstop.

That last proposal – something Theresa May herself has repeatedly said is not possible – is what she told MPs should support.
