Theresa May leadership: Talk switches from plots to reshuffle

Theresa May is being urged to reshuffle her cabinet as she battles to restore her tattered authority. After apparently seeing off a coup, her supporters are calling for the foreign secretary Boris Johnson to be removed from his post. His backers are saying the chancellor should be sacked instead. With the party’s MPs bitterly divided, the Scottish Conservative leader and the former leader Sir John Major both backed the prime minister – and called for unity.
