Texas Senator Ted Cruz apologises over trip to Mexico during weather crisis

Ted Cruz has now apologised for making that trip, having worked out it was “obviously a mistake”.

The Republican is facing outrage not just for jetting off abroad, but also for apparently leaving the family poodle behind.
