Terminal breast cancer patients ‘abandoned’ amid nurse shortage

Almost three quarters of NHS Trusts are failing to provide specialist nurses for patients with incurable breast cancer, according to research from the Breast Cancer Care charity. Patients say having a specialist nurse to support them is the single most important thing they want, the charity claims. The Department of Health says it is “committed to increasing the capacity” of specialist nurses. Anja Popp went to Chorley to meet Jo Myatt, a woman affected by the shortage of specialist nurses.
