Tensions on Venezuelan border rise as US aid trucks attempt to cross

A convoy of trucks is inching towards the Venezuelan border from Colombia, defying President Nicolas Maduro who insists the aid they are carrying is not required.

There have already been skirmishes between protesters and the security forces tasked with keeping the aid out.

Meanwhile in the capital Caracas, thousands have again taken to the streets for rival protests for and against the government.
