Sunak outlines new plan to curb illegal migration

As freezing weather brought parts of the country to a halt over the last few days, one thing that didn’t stop was the small boat crossings.

More than 500 people braved the treacherous conditions this weekend, bringing this year’s total to around 45,000.

Speaking in the Commons, the prime minister today outlined a new plan to tackle the issue – including enhanced cooperation with Albania, and a pledge to clear the asylum backlog within a year.
