Sudan: Week-long ceasefire to come into force to allow aid to millions

A week-long ceasefire is due to come into force in Sudan to allow humanitarian aid to be delivered to millions of people trapped with limited supplies of food, electricity and medicines.

But airstrikes have continued to pound the capital, Khartoum – while the UN has warned that the fighting could turn into an ethnic-driven conflict – with implications for the whole region.
