Sudan crisis: thousands of British nationals stuck in war zone

There’s a Royal Navy frigate nearby and an RAF plane has landed in Port Sudan – as ministers admitted the “job isn’t done” when it comes to rescuing thousands of British passport holders trapped by the fighting.

The Government promised that “all avenues” were being explored, but many British nationals say they feel abandoned. While many Sudanese people desperate to escape the fighting have had to risk a long and dangerous drive to the Egyptian border.
