Storm Alex: Floods sweep through southern France and Italy

Military helicopters and soldiers are now deployed to search for people missing after a powerful storm caused the worst floods in generations to hit southeastern France and northwestern Italy.

Storm Alex brought almost a year’s average rainfall in less than 12 hours to the mountains just north of the French city of Nice.
