Starmer faces down hecklers as he breaks with Corbyn in Labour conference speech

“Are you shouting slogans or changing lives?” That was the question Labour leader Keir Starmer threw at hecklers during his first in-person conference speech as leader.

He made a decisive break with his predecessor Jeremy Corbyn, instead praising the achievements of Labour under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

He also promised more money for mental health services and schools.
