South Yorkshire to move into highest Covid alert level on Saturday

South Yorkshire has become the latest area of England to be put into the highest Covid alert level – Tier 3.

It means 1.4 million more people will not be allowed to meet indoors unless they are part of a support bubble from Saturday, and pubs and bars that do not serve food will have to close.

Greater Manchester, Lancashire and the Liverpool City Region are already under Tier 3 regulations.
